Great Printer
I've been using this printer for a couple of weeks now and I just love it. It does a great job when I print photos and I really like that it has 2 places for paper. I can put photo paper in one tray and regular paper in the other. The printer allows me to switch between the two trays for printing. Prior to this I had a very expensive HP that didn't work near as well.

Canon Pixma MX850: Genius
The Canon Pixma MX850 is greater than the sum of all its parts. I truly didn't expect to be this pleased with an all-in-one, thinking that you have to sacrifice features for the convenience of having it all in one nice package.

It scans, it duplexes, it's wirelessly networked to all the computers in the home/home office (wire it directly to your wireless router, works like a charm). It's brilliant.

The colors are fantastic, its ink economy seems to be great, setup was a bit involved but worthwhile.

Reasonably good printer
Pros: Easy setup, Good quality prints, Good quality scans, Intuitive menus. I have not tried the fax capabilities.

Cons:

1. Does not come with a USB cable and came to know of this only when setting up the printer. This is pathetic, Canon!. You can get them for about $6.00 retail at Amazon.

2. Test printing accepted paper from the top feeder, but subsequent printing would accept paper only from bottom feeder. There is no automatic sensing. Quit some time was wasted figuring that out.

Conclusion: Overall, a very good printer. It's been only two months since I purchased it and this far I am satisfied. I recommend it.

MX850 printer
Used the product for about a month and it does everything I expected to to. I haven't used the fax yet as having problems getting hooked up. Its a small item that I will get figured out.

Amazing feature set and good quality results
Bought this on Newegg on special for $160 with free shipping. Ordered on Sunday night and had it on Tuesday. I usually love Amazon but in this case Newegg was much better. (No tax either, and I'm in New York so I'd have to pay tax through Amazon.) In sum, you really can't find a better combination of features and quality for the price. The only real complaint I have is that sometimes documents fed through the automatic document feeder aren't 100 percent straight (more like 98 percent straight, but this is only a problem sometimes).

PROS: Auto-duplexing for input and output; 35-page document feeder; great quality photos and very good prints when using high print settings; good print speed at all settings (unless it's 2-sided); two paper inputs allows you to keep two different papers in the printer at all times, or to just close the top feed if you want; loads of fax features (fax isn't just an afterthought in this machine though I can't yet vouch for the fax speed or quality); multiple ink tanks means no disposing of partially full ink cartridges; good driver software gives you lots of printing options through your computer; many copy, fax and scan options built into the machine and accessible through nice rotating LCD screen; no paper jams yet.

CONS: It's BIG, as in seriously big and heavy too; like I said above, about one-third of the time documents fed through the document feeder are just the slightest bit off; duplex printing is slow because it stops for ten seconds to let the ink dry on one side before printing the other side; text printed at low quality can be fuzzy, definitely use high print quality for important documents; it's a little on the noisy side and even has a "quiet mode" that I haven't tried yet; after two weeks of use I had to run the "unclog nozzle" routine to make some black streaking go away (I realize that maintenance is needed sometimes but after just two weeks seems a bit soon); would be nice if it came with a USB cable.

Overall so far I'm quite satisfied, though if the document feeder issue gets worse before the one year warranty expires I'll send it to Canon for service. And if need be I can always place documents on the glass by hand. Without that issue I'd give it 5 stars.
