Canon Pixma MX700 Office All-On-One Inkjet Printer (2186B002)

I was only looking for a printer and ended up purchasing this multi- function one. I've only used 50% of the functions (print/copy) It is heavy, big and slow, but the print quality is excellent for the price.

Check if you have space in your office before you buy it.

By far the Canon PIXMA MX700 blows the competition away. Ease of installation, networking, multiple paper feeds, 30 sheet fax, scan and copy feeder. Great quality at a great price. I replaced an HP Multi-Function with the Canon and couldn't be happier. With the networking and new software I can print, scan, fax etc. from any of the three computers in my home, couldn't do that with the HP even with a networked print server attached. Canon gets a thumbs up on this one.

Works great so far, someone said they had trouble printing on card stock such as business cards but I had no problem printing my business cards, I just had to put the card stock in the back paper feed instead of the front.

I bought this printer in April of '08. It died today Oct.17, 2008. I'd be much more upset if it was my only printer. Have not been happy from beginning because of problems with paper handling. Must use rear feed for anything other than 20# paper. Rear feed hard to use and inadequate paper guide leads to many misfeeds. Gave up on using front tray after a month because it kept jamming with it's limited use. Today I got messages there was a paper jam when there wasn't. Mechanisms began to sound horrible and print awful, then my paper did jam and won't clear.
A shocker a month ago: ran out of ink in one color. the printer then refused to do any printing at all and wouldn't even let me scan or fax when my task didn't need to use any ink.
I'm done with it. I don't even want an exchange if they offered it. I'm going back to HP and Brother.

Product arrived earlier than promised. Faced a little hiccup during printer driver installation (turned out to be because of a bad USB cable, nothing wrong with product). Just because Canon does not supply USB cable with printer, I had to purchase a new one from Fry's. After driver installation when I plugged in the USB cable into my PC, it gave "USB device not recognized". Being tech savvy, I thought it might be a Vista compatibility issue or a printer issue - I suspected and checked everything else except USB cable. Canon support forced me to try another USB cable - that's when I found out. Canon and Amazon support were prompt and helpful. With the good cable, installation was over before I knew it. Tried out copy, print, scan - works great.
