LOVIN IT
All I can say is that...I LOVE IT!! I use it for my freelance photography business [...] That is where you can view some of my photos that have been taken with my new lens. I am so glad that I found it on amazon cheaper than at stores in my area. The crispness of my subject is excellent, and the blurred background is supurb. I especially love it at low aperatures! It is a surprisingly cheap lens for the performance that it delivers. I highly suggest that evey photographer has it among their other pricey lenses. It was well worth the money. Thanks Canon and Thanks Amazon!

Cheap build, but takes EXCELLENT pictures
For the price, this is an amazing lens. The build quality is cheap, but it takes amazing razor sharp pictures. This lens is a must have for any photography enthusiast shooting with a Canon DSLR!

Good lens
Lens takes a little to focus correctly and is a only plastic, but overall, good lens.

Little Lens, Beautiful Image Quality, Cheap Build Quality
I got this lens a month ago, to go along with My new Canon EOS 30d. I waited a while to post a review so i could completely Know the lens, and give you guys an accurate review. This lens is Great, it's under one hundred dollars, which you wouldn't except to pay! And, it's an extremely Fast prime lens, with Great image quality. However, i have two teeny weeny complaints about the lens: The build quality. In short, it's why it's so cheap. It's made of plastic, and really wouldn't survive a fall. Also, the little Manual focus thingy, i wouldn't even call it a ring, is very small to grasp. And, on occasion, if you don't set a specific AF point, the Autofocus can be a little slow, on occasion, doesn't happen all the time though.

Okay, let's get back to more important things, like Image quality, and bokeh. This lens is very Fast, and great for portraits, or humans, and dogs alike. With this lens, open all the way to f/1.8 you have a great choice of where to place focus, like this picture i took:
[...]

You can really be specific. Don't use f/1.8 with moving things, or without a tripod. At least, i can't, my hands are too shaky, and things always move in/out of focus. I love the lens. It's great, superb Quality. If you're thinking of getting it, go ahead. The 50mm length is awkward with some photography, so you might want a slower zoom on the side.
